Skills

Skills are special techniques that your characters can perform in battle. All skills use up SP, but it can be replenished at the Hospital between battles or during battle through the use of Consumables. Most characters will learn some skills of their own, but others will have to learn Spells from Extra Gain, or Weapon Skills from using weapons.

[edit] Character Skills
Most characters learn certain skills automatically. Also, most of those skills can only be learned by those characters or classes. This section contains links to all characters that naturally learn skills.

Humanoid Characters |
[edit] Weapon Skills
All Humanoid Characters (generic and unique) have the ability to learn Weapon Skills from the following weapons.
[edit] Magic Spells
There are 37 spells total. There are no class restrictions involved with them, which means that any character can learn them through Extra Gain.
The natural Range and Area of Effect of spells increase every level until they cap, as shown in this table.
|
|
As stated previously, that's the natural Range and Area. Additionally, it can be boosted by Staff Mastery. Here's a table showing by how much Range and Area are boosted by different Staff levels.

[edit] Spell Attack Zone
Here are the Attack Zones (or Areas of Effect). The number of targets is the same as the "Area" listed in the above tables. Every additional panel affected amplifies the SP cost of the spell.

[edit] Skill Mastery
Every time a character uses a Skill, the Skill gains Skill Experience, which can be noted in the Status Menu of the character. Once enough Skill Experience has been gained, the Skill gains a level, and begins to do more damage, as well as cost more SP. Because some Skills aren't designed to deal damage, they'll only end up costing more SP.
Below is a chart dealing with the amount of Skill Experience required to reach each Skill level, as well as the amount required between levels.
|
|
|
Every use of a class specific skill yields 20 skill points, while all spells grant 10 skill points per use. Weapon Skills are different, so you'll so you'll have to look that up in the individual Character sections.
Note: Skulls naturally gain more Spell points than other classes.
Additionally, the Mentor Specialist increases Skill Exp gain by 1% per level, maxing out at a 300% boost with a level 300 Mentor. Any more will have no effect.
[edit] Skill Table Legend
All pages with Skill Tables use this legend.
- Skill Name: [This is the name of the Skill.]
- Level Learned: [The level at which the skill is learned. For Weapon Skills, this is the level of Weapon Mastery at which the skill is learned.]
- Base SP Cost: [This is the Base SP Cost required to use the skill. After the skill has passed level one, it's cost will magnify by [5% + 0.5] per level thereafter, where 5% is 5% of the Base SP Cost.]
- Stats/Elements: [These are the stats and elements associated with damage calculation.]
- Effects: [These are additional effects of the skill (usually in addition to damage).]
- Power: [This is a percentage used to calculate damage. The higher the Power, the more damage the skill deals. See the "Formulas" section for details.]
- Height Tolerance: [This is how high and low on the terrain a skill will be able to operate. If you try to assign a skill to be performed at an altitude not included in the Height Tolerance, you will get an error sound in-game and nothing will happen.]
- Tiers: [Indicates which skills are learned by which Tiers of that class. It's for only Skulls and Mages.]
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
[>] | This indicates which direction the character is facing. In this instance, it means the character is facing right. You'll see this same symbol under "Attack Zone" for many of the skills in this section. To avoid any confusion, I have not included the [<] symbol at all, which means the character is always facing right, or that direction does not matter. |
[1] | Numbers in brackets designate which panels are being affected by the skill. The hit order is determined by the actual number: [1] is always hit first, then [2], [3], and so on. If there are multiple panels with the same number, it is because it's impossible to determine the hit order. |
[X] | This panel needs to be free while the skill is being performed, but no characters will end up on it afterwards. |
[K] | This panel will be the new location of the enemy after the skill has been completed, so it must be free prior to instigation of the skill. |
[B] | This panel will be the new location of the character performing the skill once it has been completed, so it must be free prior to instigation of the skill. |
Free Range: x | This indicates that you may choose any target no further than distance x. |
Linear Range: x | This indicates that you may choose any target in a straight line no further than distance x. |
( ) | Parenthesis are only involved with Free and Linear Range skills that have an Area of Effect greater than one. It indicates around which Panel the Area of Effect can be rotated_90 degress clockwise, which is done by pressing the Square Button. If a number is enclosed by the parenthesis, it still designates a target, as well as hit order. |
[!] | This indicates that the direction the character is facing is not important. |
[Self] | This indicates that the skill is used only on the caster. |
[Spell] | This means the Attack Zone of the skill follows the same mechanics as a standard spell. |
