Felonies are mainly known for their ability to increase the amount of EXP your character gains in battle, replacing the lovely Statistician specialists from other games in the series. However, they do have several other effects that can be incredibly more helpful than specialists.
 Felony Overview
Your first Felony experience will be after Stage 3-3, where it's required as part of the story to get a Felony. After that, you can speak to the Post Officer in Holt Village (Red Skull) or in the Land of Carnage (Prinny) to see a full list of all the crimes each character has committed. To 'commit a crime', you have to meet some sort of requirement, like a certain amount of ATK or HIT.
When you accept a charge from the Post Officer, you'll get an item called a Subpoena. Inside comes a pre-subdued specialist called a "Bailiff". Because it is pre-subdued, you can move it between your items as soon as you get it. The number next to it (its level) indicates on which floor the Court Gate will appear in Item World. The Court Gate is a blue portal leading to the Dark Court, which is full of Prinnies. When you enter, you'll get a specific amount of Felonies and a prize. Once that's done, you'll be immediately ejected to the floor on which you entered the Court Gate.
The first time you get a Felony on one of your characters, you'll become immediately aware of the Stamp on your character's portrait, which will say "X Felonies" in red. Whenever you get some more Felonies, it will increment the Stamp's value by that amount. While most of the effects of Felonies will be derived from the value on the Stamp, which caps at 99, the actual cap on Felonies is 300.
There are two special types of Reincarnation that involve Felonies: The "Reincarnate to Atone for Sins" proposal for the twelve unique characters, and the "Reincarnate into a Prinny" proposal for generic Humanoid and Monster characters. Either will clear the Stamp from the character in question. However, the Prinny Reincarnation proposal will turn the character into a Prinny. To turn him/her back into another character, you must pass the "End Prinny Reincarnation" proposal. His/her Felony Stamp will still be gone, but he/she can now become something else. Normal Reincarnation does not affect Felonies, but it does reset the crime list.
One thing you should take to heart is that when you clear the Stamp's value, you still have your Felonies! They don't leave. You've only gotten rid of the Stamp and the bonuses that come from it. If you want the Stamp back, you're going to have to start over by getting more Felonies.
Note: If the Stamp's value is 99, you don't need to remove it to get more Felonies for the EXP boost. Inversely, if you have 300 Felonies, you can still increase the Stamp's value by getting more.
Removing the Felony Stamp is commonly done to help keep track of how many Felonies you have. However, it isn't mandatory that you do it this way. Instead, you can use the Felony Calculator.
 Collecting Felonies on Multiple Characters
By throwing a stack of up to nine characters onto the Dark Court portal, every single one of them will appear in the Dark Court, and consequently each will receive the same number of Felonies only one character would have gotten; they're not split! This is an especially important tactic when attempting to acquire 300 Felonies for your whole party.
 Effects of Felonies
Felonies have multiple effects. Some are tied to the Felony Stamp on your portrait, and still others give you a boost even if you get rid of the 'Felony stamp'; they will remain on your character forever.
 Stamp Effects
- Shop buying prices are decreased by 1% per value of the Stamp. This effect caps at 33%.
- Shop selling prices are increased by 1% per value of the Stamp. This effect caps at 33%.
- The Stamp's value directly affects Dark Assembly Senator affection. The higher the better.
- When you ascend in Dark World, all enemies gain X levels, where X is the Stamp's Value.
- If your character has a Stamp, he/she can not damage the Dark Sun when he/she ascends in Dark World.
- To unlock certain extra stages, the Stamp's value must be at a certain value or higher.
 Permanent Effects
- Each Felony increases the amount of EXP the character gains by 1%. This effect caps at +300%.
 General Crimes
These crimes can each be obtained once for each character per reincarnation, meaning that if a character reincarnates, he/she can get the Subpoena for the same crime again. You can keep reincarnating as many times as you want to continuously get more and more Subpoenas, but it's just a waste of time once you have all the Felonies you need.
Each character has his/her own personal list of crimes, so meeting the requirements on one character will not make any Subpoenas for another character available.
