Armor ranges from scraps of cloth or leather to ancient suits of mail. Not surprisingly, armor is the best way to protect a character from attacks. All pieces of armor increase a character's Defense, and many increase or decrease other stats, so be aware of the stat bonuses (or negative bonuses) when equipping armor because they're not all the same. Armor is available at the shop from the start of the game.
